Aquatic BioGX Initiative
First-mover access to the Japan-origin blue-green market — decarbonization and nature recovery in one platform

The Aquatic BioGX Initiative coordinates four parallel working groups (carbon, environment, biodiversity, monitoring) built on microalgae, across industry, national & local government, academia, and civil partners. Joining at the FY2026 founding stage secures priority access to nation-scale real-ocean fields and offtake rights for high-quality credits.

Benefits

First-mover access to the blue-green market

01

Priority access to high-quality ocean-derived carbon credits

Durable "blue carbon" (deep-sea CDR) credits — expected to command higher prices and rarity than forestry credits — plus future biodiversity credits, are procured and reserved (offtake rights) from the development stage.

02

Demonstration fields for new business & technology

Demonstrate your sensing, materials (biodegradable sheets, etc.), marine civil engineering, and water-treatment technologies in a nation-scale real-ocean field and build a track record of deployment.

03

A strong ESG / TNFD narrative

Participation in a frontier project that simultaneously achieves Net Zero and Nature Positive is the strongest possible ESG pitch to investors and shareholders.

04

Restoring "abundant seas" and supporting fisheries

Microalgae-anchored food-web recovery targets the rebuild of declining commercial fishery resources (shellfish, finfish) — delivering direct support to local fisheries.

Activities

Working groups backcast from the long-term vision

Annual symposium

Once-a-year full-membership symposium. The first edition is scheduled for 30 January 2026.

Working groups

Working groups assess foundational data, build a social-implementation roadmap, and develop policy recommendations. Chairs are elected by participating full members and must be full or nominated members. Each WG meets 3–5 times per year; the set expands as needed.

  • Carbon Sequestration — methodology for microalgae-based carbon sequestration including fishery-resource valorization
  • Environmental Improvement & Resource Circulation — microalgae-based remediation and aquatic biomass circular materials
  • Biodiversity — methodology for biodiversity improvement and assessment anchored on primary-producer recovery
  • Monitoring & Evaluation — satellite- and AI-based methodology for aquatic carbon-sequestration and biodiversity evaluation

Alliance-led commercialization & social implementation

Multi-member alliances drive commercial social implementation, and joint initiatives accelerate deployment.
